It is set in 1499, around the time of the end of The White Princess. The Spanish Princess may also combine Gregory’s next book in the English history timeline, “The King’s Curse.” This tells the story of Margaret Plantagenet, later known as Margaret Pole. He keeps her in England, but without adequate funds to look after her. Henry needs to decide whether to marry his son’s widow himself or allow her to marry his second son, who is now heir to the throne. There isn’t actually a Gregory novel called The Spanish Princess, but there is one called “The Constant Princess.” This was the one many fans of her novels expected to be adapted by Starz next, as it continues the timeline after the most recent adaptation.
